​Artist Statement

​

From a young age, I’ve always loved transforming everyday items into something magical. I would collect beautiful scraps of paper, old books, obsess over vintage wallpapers, buttons and collected stamps and turn them into personal art pieces by painting, glueing, cutting, and writing my poetry and secret messages on them. I often got told off as a child for tearing wallpaper from someone’s house because I wanted to include this in my collection!

My art builds on this lifelong passion, incorporating collages and a mix of mediums like oils, acrylic paints, and handmade stencils, drawing inspiration and transporting pieces of art from a blend of artists from Gustav Klimt and Van Gogh to the dynamic street art of Banksy and the boldness of pop art. This series not only challenges traditional boundaries by blending elements from classic and contemporary art but also explores the distinct qualities of each medium, making every piece a unique part of this creative journey. Each artwork is a vibrant conversation between different art periods and styles, reflecting my lifelong joy in repurposing materials and paying tribute to the artists who inspire me. More than just visual experiences, each piece tells its own story, inviting viewers to explore the narratives woven into the textures and colours of the art.
